Our art is hand-painted by up-and-coming artists from around the country. Each piece is unique to you, and based on your reference pictures and description.

It's Easy
Our talented artists do all the work. You can submit a couple reference photos, write a brief description (or do both), and we’ll paint it and ship it. We currently only offer one size, 5” x 7”, on cold-press watercolor paper. For $1 more, our artist can write a brief message on the back of your painting.
How much does a Bad Watercolor cost?
$29. Half of the cost before tax and shipping goes directly to the artist. We want to live in a world with art, and that means supporting artists. Additionally, .05% of our revenue goes to atmospheric carbon removal through Stripe Climate.

Unfortunately, no. Because of the logistics challenges of receiving orders, painting and shipping pieces, and paying artists, we simply can’t offer refunds at this time. We think you’ll love what you get - if you don’t, please reach out to [email protected].
Please upload photos that are clear, well-lit, and demonstrate unambiguously what you’d like us to paint. DO NOT upload any violent, bigoted, or hateful images. Additionally, please do not upload any images with nudity. We have a sense of humor, and some of our artists are happy to paint more spicy images (within reason), but use the description box. Bad Watercolor admin and artists reserve the final right of refusal on all requests for paintings. If our artists refuse to paint your painting, we’ll refund your money.
